Working as a trainer in international youth work requires continuous learning, curiosity, and the ability to identify and use relevant resources for professional growth.

Trainers are not only facilitators of learning for others, but also active learners who take responsibility for their own development.

This activity invites you to explore a range of platforms, tools, and communities that support trainers’ professional development. By engaging with these resources, you will expand your awareness of learning opportunities and identify the ones most relevant to your own growth as a trainer.

By completing this activity, you will be able to:
  • Identify relevant resources and opportunities for your professional development as a trainer.
  • Navigate platforms and communities that support learning in the youth work field.
  • Reflect on your learning needs and define your development priorities.
  • Select and use appropriate resources to support your individual learning pathway

You will explore a curated set of platforms, tools and initiatives that offer learning opportunities, peer support, self-assessment, and professional development resources for trainers.


International Youth Work Trainers Guild

A strategic framework for the development of youth worker education and training in Europe under the Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programmes.


T-Kit 6: Training Essentials

This revised T-Kit aims to equip youth workers and youth trainers with the essentials of non-formal education training. It is a practical tool for them to develop training competencies and learn more about educational theory, concepts, tools, practices, and resources, as well as hands-on tips. This handbook is written by trainers for trainers and youth workers in the European youth field.

Based on your exploration, identify which resources are most relevant for your current stage of development and how you can use them in practice. Reflect on your learning and define concrete next steps for your professional development.

  • Identifying learning objectives and pursuing them pro-actively.
  • Identifying and providing appropriate resources to support individual learning.
